Man tries to trade live alligator for beer in, you guessed it, Florida.
Better hold it up to the light and make sure it's legit. (via NBC)
It's cold up North these days, which means our criminals and nutjobs are increasingly huddled indoors—giving Florida its time to shine as the craziest peninsula on Earth. This video is security footage from a the Santa Ana Market in Miami where this guy, Fernando Caignet Aguilera, tried to purchase beer with a his recently captured and taped-up live alligator.
Aguilera was not charged for the bartering but he was cited for alligator harassment (while in most places people don't need to be told not to harass alligators, this is Florida, so it's illegal) and illegal possession and attempted sale of the animal. Said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesperson Jorge Pino, "I have never experienced anything like this in 25 years of law enforcement." Well, then, I guess there wasn't any evidence that it wouldn't work.
