A little girl named Cthulhu Titanium McLaughlin might be born this spring, if the Internet has any say in the matter.

In her crib in the nursery, baby Cthulhu waits dreaming.

Stephen McLaughlin is just a regular guy who is about to become a dad. And, like most normal boring soon-to-be fathers, he created a website specifically so that random strangers on the Internet can suggest and then vote on first and middle names for his unborn daughter. Dads! Am I right?

Thus far, the Internet is being surprisingly conservative, with the top choice of name currently being Amelia Mae McLaughlin. That's surprisingly non-terrible. Still, though, there's a lot of other options that could still bubble up to the top before the April 2 due date. Some of the worst-slash-best are:

  • Cthulhu Titanium McLaughlin
  • Streetlamp Salad McLaughlin
  • Luna Le-Dash-A McLaughlin
  • Megatron Doge McLaughlin
  • Zelda Meagan McLaughlin
  • Not Zelda Meagan McLaughlin

I have to admit, I'm not totally against Megatron Doge McLaughlin. But probably not for a girl.

Anyway, don't worry too much for the well-being of this tiny human being that will come screaming into this world in just a few weeks. Her mother is aware of the Name My Daughter website and is accepting the Internet's input up to a point. So, the website is really suggesting a name more than choosing one. Which I think seems reasonable. And I think that my future son Megatron Doge DiClaudio would as well.
